cricket-net-protection-skirt
Cricket Net Protection Skirt

A heavy-duty cloth skirt that fits over the bottom of your cricket nets, where the hardest hits land. It adds a second layer of protection, so your netting lasts longer. Cut to your length (up to 50m) in 90cm or 180cm widths, with eyelets every ½ metre or every 1 metre.

Protect the part of the net that takes the most hits
In any cricket net, the bottom section takes the most punishment. Drives, edges, and ball after ball from bowling machines all hit the lower netting, and that's usually where holes appear first.

Our Cricket Netting Protection Skirt covers that area. It's a strip of heavy-duty cloth that goes over the bottom of the net and hangs down both sides, so the ball hits the skirt before it hits the netting. The result is less wear on your net and fewer repairs.

Tested at a working club
The idea came from one of our commercial installers in Queensland. He trialled net skirts at a club whose older nets were being worn through by bowling machine balls. The feedback was so good that the club ordered a second set for its 1st grade practice nets. Months later, the skirts are still going strong.

Features

Two widths. The 90cm skirt covers roughly 45cm up each side of the net. The 180cm skirt covers about double that, for nets that take higher hits.

Eyelet spacing to suit your setup. Choose eyelets every ½ metre for a tighter, more secure fit on high-use commercial nets. Choose every 1 metre for a quicker install on lighter-use or backyard nets.

Made to your length. Order any length up to 50m, so one skirt can run the full length of a lane.

Tough, low-profile material. Black or Green HDPE Knitted Monofilament and Tape Fibres, 180GSM, UV stabilised and finished with polyester webbing. It blends in with black netting and stays out of the way of batters and bowlers.

Installation
There are two ways to attach the skirt:

1. Heavy Duty Net Clips (recommended). Place the skirt over the bottom of the net and clip through each eyelet onto the netting. In field testing, cable ties were broken by ball strikes. The heavy-duty clips held up much better. A ball hitting the skirt pushes against the clip rather than prying it open.
2. PP Black Rope. Weave rope between the eyelets and the netting to lace the skirt along its full length. This option suits people who prefer a continuous tie-off or who are working with heavier netting.
Tip: Clips work best on 48-ply netting. They still fit on 60-ply netting, but may not close quite as tightly, so rope can be a good option on heavier nets.

Who it's for
The skirt is designed mainly for clubs, schools, councils, and commercial training centres that want more life from their nets. It also suits backyard nets that see a lot of use, including bowling machine sessions.

FAQ

Which width should I choose?
90cm suits most nets and covers the lower zone where most balls hit. Choose 180cm for extra height, such as nets used with bowling machines or by senior players.

How many clips do I need?
You need one clip per eyelet. With ½ metre spacing, that's about 2 clips per metre of skirt. With 1 metre spacing, it's 1 clip per metre.

Can I fit it to my existing nets?
Yes. The skirt fits over the bottom of an existing cricket net, so you don't need to replace anything.

Can I use cable ties?
We don't recommend them. Cable ties were tested and couldn't handle repeated ball strikes.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0026/7675/2497/files/cricket-netting-cricket-net-protection-skirt-1262532300.jpg?v=1791951910
