Why poultry netting

You can control who your birds mix with. That is worth doing properly.

Netting is a physical barrier, not a treatment. It does not replace your biosecurity plan or your vet's advice. What it does is stop wild birds getting into the places your flock eats, drinks and shelters.

01 / Wild birds

Wild birds are the contact your flock does not need.

State authorities are telling producers to keep domestic birds separated from wild ones and to protect feed and water from contamination. Netting is how you do that physically. Cover the range, the feed line and the water points, and wild birds lose the reason to land.

02 / Free-range reality

If you cannot house your birds, exclusion is the option you have left.

Caged and barn systems can shut the doors. Free-range and pasture-raised cannot, and housing birds that are used to roaming brings its own welfare problems. Netting over runs and ranges is the measure that is actually available to you.

03 / Two mesh sizes, two jobs

19mm to keep wild birds out. 40mm to keep yours in.

19mm 9-ply excludes sparrows, starlings, pigeons and most wild birds from covered areas. 40mm square perimeter netting contains poultry along fence lines and runs. Plenty of farms use both, and we will tell you which one your setup needs.

Free-range & pasture-raised

Net the range when housing your birds is not an option.

Frequently asked questions

Chicken and poultry netting, answered

Which mesh size do I need, 19mm or 40mm?

It depends which way you are keeping birds. 19mm 9-ply is for keeping wild birds out, so it suits covers over runs, ranges, feed lines, water points and aviaries. 40mm square is for keeping your own birds in, so it suits perimeter fencing and run walls. A lot of setups use both. Tell us what you are covering and we will spec it.

Will netting stop bird flu getting into my flock?

No, and we will not tell you otherwise. Netting is a physical barrier, not a disease control measure, and no single measure keeps a virus out on its own. What netting does is stop wild birds physically reaching your birds' feed, water, shelter and range, which is one of the things state authorities are asking producers to manage. Your biosecurity plan belongs to you, your vet and your state authority. For current advice, check outbreak.gov.au or your state agriculture department.

Can I buy just a few metres instead of a whole roll?

Yes. Both the 19mm and the 40mm nets are sold by the metre, so you can order the exact length for a coop or a run without paying for a full roll. Widths run from 1.2m up to 10m depending on the net.

What sizes do the pre-cut rolls come in?

Our heavy duty 9-ply bird netting runs from 1.2m x 25m up to 20m x 50m, with a lot of sizes in between. The rope-edged version comes in smaller panels from 1.8m x 7.5m up to 3m x 30m. If nothing fits your span, we will make it to your dimensions.

Can you make a custom size for my range or shed?

Yes. Send us your dimensions and we will have it made, edged and roped if you need it. Get in touch and we will confirm a price and a date together.

How long does the netting last outdoors?

The net is UV-stabilised HDPE, so it is built for permanent outdoor exposure rather than one season. Life depends on your site, how it is tensioned and how much handling it gets. Rope-reinforced edging is worth it anywhere the net gets rolled back and forth regularly.

Do you ship Australia-wide?

Yes. We ship Australia-wide from our Sydney warehouse. Freight depends on the size of the net and your postcode, and we include it in your quote so there is nothing unexpected at checkout.

Do you supply wholesale to farms and installers?

Yes. We supply backyard coops through to commercial poultry farms, and more than 25 professional bird-proofing installers specify our 9-ply net. Ask us about a wholesale account for trade pricing and freight terms.
